Challah Cover, hand made in the holy city of Tzfat (Safed) Israel, hand painted original design.
* This handmade Challah Cover is exquisitely handpainted using the finest imported black velvet and a delicate black rope trim. The focus point of the design is the brown suede 770 building applique with hand painted details in silver and gold. Graceful gold scrolls flank the building on both sides and an elegant, metallic gold, beaded and sequined 2.5" (7 cm) flower lace trim grace the top and bottom of the challah cover. The words "Shabbat ve Yom Tov" (Sabbath and Holidays) are hand painted in gold and silver glittery paint.
* This Challah Cover can be made with midnight blue, dark green, burgundy or cream colored velvet.
* The Challah Cover measures approximately 22.5x17.5" (57x44 cm).
* Care: hand-wash separately, air dry.
* Price includes personalization (two words such as "Mishpacha Cohen") in Hebrew or English.
The weekly Shabbat (Sabbath) and Jewish Holidays are celebrated by partaking of lavishly prepared meals, with sumptuous foods and special dishes. A touch of distinction is added to the beautifully set Shabbat or Holiday table by using a special Challah Cover to cover the bread (challah) until after the Kiddush (blessing over wine).
This unique design depicts the iconic building known simply as "770" which is the familiar name for the building at 770 Eastern Parkway, in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, New York; the central headquarters of the worldwide Chabad-Lubavitch Chassidic movement, residence and office of the Sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, from 1940 until his passing in 1950; office (and sometimes residence) of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, from his arrival to the U.S. in 1941 until his passing in 1994.
