Velvet Challah Cover, hand made in the holy city of Tzfat (Safed), Israel, hand painted original design.
* This handmade Challah Cover is exquisitely handpainted using the finest imported black velvet. The elegant beige fabric tassel trim measures approximately 2.5" (7 cm).
* The Challah Cover measures approximately 19x18.5" (49x47 cm) including the trim.
* Care: hand-wash separately, air dry.
* Price includes personalization (two words or your choice such as "Mishpacha Cohen" ("Cohen Family") in Hebrew or English.
The weekly Shabbat (Sabbath) and Jewish Holidays are celebrated by partaking of lavishly prepared meals, with sumptuous foods and special dishes. A touch of distinction is added to the beautifully set Shabbat or Holiday table by using a special Challah Cover to cover the bread (challah) until after the Kiddush (blessing over wine).
This design features a whimsical pomegranate tree. The pomegranate is one of the seven species of fruits and grains that are special products of the Land of Israel. Each pomegranate contains 613 seeds corresponding to the 613 commandments in the Jewish faith. Images of pomegranates were woven into the hem of the robe of the High Priest in the time of the Temples.
